Welcome to the web site of the Northern Rockies Chapter (NRC) of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD)! ASTD is the largest organization in the world dedicated to workplace learning and performance professionals with more than 40,000 members in the United States and another 20,000+ abroad as part of its global network. The national organization and its local chapters are nonprofit. The Northern Rockies Chapter serves northern Colorado and Wyoming. There is also a Rocky Mountain Chapter to serve the Denver area (south of Longmont) and a Pikes Peak Chapter to serve the Colorado Springs area. About half of our 70+ members work for corporations or government organizations while the other half are entrepreneurs or consultants. We host monthly lunch or dinner programs at The Moot House in Fort Collins and quarterly programs in Cheyenne. Several special events are also planned each year including half or full day workshops and networking opportunities. Events are open to members and non members with typical monthly attendance of 15-30. We also publish a monthly newsletter to keep you up to date on chapter news and events. Membership is only $50 per year and entitles you to discounted event fees and access to the members only directory (coming Fall 2010) We hope you can join us for a program or as a member. Vance The Northern Rockies Chapter (NRC) of ASTD provides growth opportunities for professionals and students interested in workplace learning and performance. Our chapter serves the Northern Colorado region and surrounding areas. Our purpose and reason for being are twofold: Internal Focus We increase the effectiveness of local workplace learning and development professionals by • Presenting current and relevant programs • Building relationships for knowledge sharing, and • Providing leadership opportunities External Focus We contribute to the success and well being of the Northern Colorado region by • Referring organizations to qualified workplace learning and performance professionals • Providing programs of interest to the local business community, and • Acting as a local resource for organizations who are considering coming into the area Our chapter creates an atmosphere conducive to growth and learning that is free of sales or marketing pressure and where members can form professional relationships, discuss issues and interests, and seek answers to questions or needs. |
